3D printing and CNC processing, which is more suitable for automotive lamp parts.

3D printing is being adopted by more and more automotive applications, which can be applied to all applications from internal components to the entire chassis. Even the tires can be printed in 3D. The technology has many advantages, including lighter components, less waste, faster manufacturing time, lower costs, and so on. But some cars are not ideal for 3D printing. Because 3D printing is a layered process, the end product often displays these layers.

There are exceptions, of course. Some materials and post-processing techniques basically remove any layer of evidence of glass and plastic parts. But in general, 3D printing is not the preferred technology for getting the perfect clear surface. For this, most manufacturers turn to numerical control. The nc machining of objects from solid blocks, so there is no layer line, thus producing a clear component, which can be used for headlights, taillights or in-car lights in cars.

Car lamps are usually made from polymethyl methacrylate or PMMA(also known as acrylic glass). It is light, broken and very suitable for automotive applications. And it is clear that processing does not affect quality.

Chinese company 3ERP also performs 3D printing and numerical control processing, and provides a wide range of CNC processing services, including milling, turning, EDM and line cutting and surface grinding. The company has a precision 3-axis, 4-axis and 5-axis CNC machining centers to meet customer needs, including automotive applications.

In a recent blog post, the company said: "carburetor housing, suspension parts, axle, bearing cap and engine housing are all made using CNC equipment. Acrylic/acrylic PMMA for headlights, car lights and interior lights is another example of how to use numerical control when manufacturing parts in the automotive industry.

As 3ERP pointed out, the advantages of nc machining in automobile manufacturing include multi-axis linkage, to obtain the zigzag machining of prototype machining. High accuracy, good product consistency; High degree of automation, resulting in low labor intensity; Numerical control also ensures simplicity and efficiency.

In addition to the 3ERP selection of advanced equipment, the company also has experienced engineers who can handle the complex and precision parts of various industries, including automobiles. It also provides a quick turnaround time - on average, it can return an offer within 24 hours, with parts delivered within seven days or less, with a delivery time and quality rate of 99%.

So while 3D printing may be taking over a growing number of auto industries, it is unlikely to take over completely. Numerical control processing has a place in the automobile industry, and will not give up in a short time. Automotive lighting is an example of has obvious advantages in nc machining, but as we have seen in many cases, 3 d printing and CNC machine tool processing and complement each other, each other between the coordination effect is better than separately.
